It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. So just watch this live feed from the Gulf floor and check out the tally of the amount of oil spilled so far.

Nothing else needs to be said.

In The Gulf Of Mexico
Sung to the tune of On The Road  To Mandalay
(The original poem, Mandalay by Rudyard Kipling, was put to music in 1904 by Oley Speaks.)

Please press play                                 June 20, 2010

From the ruins of Horizon

spreading outward towards our land

an oil slick is growing that’s

unstoppable by man.

Well pressure is too mighty and

its source is far too deep.

How to cap the well’s our quest now,

how to cap is what we seek.

How to cap to stop the leak?

In the Gulf of Mexico

Where dolphins used to go

there’s booms and skimmers working

and in-situ burns aglow.

On the shores of the US

where the oil's made a mess

vacationers won’t visit

leaving business in distress.

Sixty days since the explosion

and no solutions are at hand

and with each day that passes

habitats become wasteland.

The birds and fish and mammals are

being threatened by the score

so now’s the time for action to

restore our pristine shore.

We must restore our shore.

In the Gulf of Mexico

where the tourists used to go

tar balls now cover beaches as

the tide does ebb and flow.

On the shores of the US

all the folks are so depressed

because government red tape is

impeding all progress.

Then from the Oval Office came

the words he should have said

many weeks ago before the

oil blighted our beachhead.

He did blame and demonize

but said nothing I could hear

‘bout how to clean our gulf shore,

instead he made it clear

He’ll push Cap and Tax this year.

Save the Gulf of Mexico

Save this place that we all know

a priority, it must be, for

the oil’s damage to go.

On the shores of the US

to the Congress we do stress

do all that you can do to

ensure clean up’s a success.
