Commentary on
Folks A Yellin' No Siree

What can you say after you say that the Health Care Bill totally stinks? It is probably the worst bill ever to be produced by the House of Representatives. It will cost over a trillion bucks. It doesn’t cover or insure all those it is intended to cover and insure. It takes away and/or restricts a multitude of coverage and services that are in effect already, and it imposes a third party governmental body between you and your doctor when your most important health care decisions need to be made.

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and company are all nuts. They really think that their form of leadership can actually manage a giant conglomerate like Health Care. They point to Medicare and Medicaid with great pride as the model for this humongous entitlement program, but they neglect to mention that both programs are in the hole and that the hole is getting bigger by the second. They truly believe that the American People are buying all their fallacious rhetoric. But what the people see is an ineffectual government that can’t even manage production of a vaccine for Swine Flu during a pandemic.

Their management track record sucks. Managed for 234 years, the Post Office is going belly up. Managed for 74 years, Social Security is about to roll over and die. There’s Medicare and Medicaid that are in the red—and don’t forget the War on Poverty that isn’t working either. How about Amtrak, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac? They are all failing as well. And the Stimulus is a huge joke. It is nothing more than a political payoff system by which Congress was able to increase the size of government and government salaries as well. With our unemployment rate at 10% it doesn’t look as though it is working in any way, shape or form.

Congress has become a think tank that seems to live and breathe in some la la land instead of truly dealing with the problems and making good decisions that actually benefit the people of the United States of America. What happened to their accountability? Just think how it would be if all the members of Congress depended on their livelihood coming from the profits made on the programs they oversee rather than out of the taxpayers’ pockets. I bet the results would be a lot different. Just think how wealthy this country would be if the programs instituted in Washington really did turn a profit and paid all expenses including salaries for all employees and administrators under their umbrella. Imagine what it would be like if a few dollars were left over and went into the public coffers to be used to rebuild our infrastructure. It is not impossible. It can be done. Microsoft does it. Google does it. Insurance companies do it. Why can’t our Congress?

Incentive. It is called incentive. Take incentive out of the equation and a welfare state is born. And that is exactly where this country is headed because Congress has no incentive to make sure that the laws they enact are worth the paper they are written on. Maybe, my fellow Americans, we should start a movement and change the way our representatives in Congress are paid up to and including the President.  No longer should these salaries just be taken for granted and written into the budget year after year. It’s time our members of Congress earned their salt and produced legislation with actual merit. It’s time we the people stop accepting garbage like this Health Care Bill. It is time to demand that those we voted into office create viable business plans, models and practices. It is time we stopped following Congress blindly down this yellow brick road.

Folks A Yellin' No Siree
Sung to the tune of This Old Man

Please press play                          November 8, 2009

Ms. Nancy Pelosi

is deaf and blind so totally

or maybe just chooses not to see

the folks a yellin’ no siree.

She'll push it through, not caring who

may get hurt like me and you.

Her mouth will run till the deed is done.

The Health Care Bill costing a ton.

It adds tax that breaks our backs.

It’s so bad let’s get the axe.

Get rid of all the gobbly-gook

then it may be worth a look.
