Tight Budget
You see us everywhere. Just walk into any WalMart and there we are offering you a cart and a helping hand. Our pride might be a little shaken, perhaps, but we do whatever it takes. That is how we were reared. We are the generations from WWI, WWII, the Korean War and Viet Nam. We deal with the hand that is dealt and don’t belly-ache about it.  “Ask not what your country can do for you. . .” because  we brought this on ourselves. We must take the blame. We are responsible for it all. We elected the Barney Franks, created the Nancy Pelosis and invested with the Bernie Madoffs . We didn’t do our due diligence when it came to checking out the keepers of our tomorrows. Perhaps it was trust, or maybe a little greed, or even just stupidity that brought us to this point. But here we are. The market’s in the toilet and our retirement funds are with it. Well, America, it’s time to take stock. We must rethink the choices made in the last few years and start to put the USA back on the right track. And we must begin with the next election.

No Foil the US Be
Do you remember when the right thing to do was to stand up and be counted? How proud we were when Reagan stood up to the Soviet Union and demanded that Gorbachev ". . .tear down that wall"? How good we felt when Bush told the New York firefighters "soon they will hear from all of us"? Patriots came out of the woodwork and stood up and were counted. Where are they now? What has happen in this country?  Have we become so complacent that we do not care what happens in the rest of the world? How could we ever have elected someone who won't take a stand? This is the first and maybe the most important world issue that he faces and all he does is "vote present". For this great orator to say nothing more than the USA cannot be put in the position of being a foil is ludicrous. How can we ever hope that President Obama will command the authority or respect from the rest of the world when he can't be counted on in time of trouble?  The whole world is watching--especially our adversaries. I only hope and pray that we don't hear from North Korea until after the next election.

GITMO
GITMO. It's an enigma. A big one. What to do with it and the detainees within. The name itself makes some people's blood boil while others believe that there is no alternative. Some say it's inhuman to keep them there and what we have done there is despicable. But on the other hand very few are offering to open their doors and bring the detainees to a neighborhood near their home towns. The mantra goes something like this. Give them their right to defend themselves in a court of law but, on second thought, not in New York,  San Francisco, London, Paris or Rome. They are perfectly good, decent human beings who have done nothing more than be in the wrong place at the wrong time, associated with the wrong people and belonged to the wrong organizations. But, on the other hand their steadfast allegiance to those same people and organizations renders them too deadly and dangerous to be free, and their training and skills makes them nothing more than hit-men for the Talaban and Al Queta. Well then just what shall we do? Why doesn't anyone remember that Congress wouldn't allow prisons to be built in countries where torture was a certainty and that is why Gitmo came to be. We cannot bring these terrorists on US soil. If we do we must give them the same rights as you and me. Just what right did they afford Daniel Pearl or our fallen soldiers in their hostile land? NONE. I for one believe Gitmo is far too good a place for them and that is where they should remain.

Not in your Policy
The song is about health care and the difficulties getting prescribed procedures approved for payment by the insurance and/or health care agencies. Although the song is meant to be "tongue-in-cheek" this is a major problem that almost everyone has faced at some time or the other. The answer may lie in the creation of a unified list of approved procedures and price points that are accepted by all insurance providers much like those offered in our Medicare system. I am not promoting a socialistic form of health care much like our President is suggesting. Rather, I believe it would be beneficial for all insurers to create an agreed-upon and clearly defined list of specific procedures complete with a price list that would be published in clear every-man English so that we all knew exactly what coverage we have. Then all people could make good decisions based on actual facts instead of  decisions based on incomplete or vague information.

Nancy, Nancy

Honesty will win out in the end, so come clean Nancy. The more you protest and play with the truth, the more of a farce you become. The truth will set you free and your constituents deserve better.

Stimulus
Just where will it all end?  Why doesn't the every-man get a say in all this? Isn't it our hard earned tax dollars that are now, and will for eons to come, be the monies that are and will pay for all of this? Well I for one DON'T WANT IT!!! I don't want to own a car business of any kind. Or an insurance company. Or a bank. Or anything. I just want a government that stays out of my everyday life and keeps this country safe from all foes, foreign or domestic. I don't want the government to decide how my schools will be run or how my hospital will take care of my medical needs. Or how my house will be financed or how safe my neighborhood is. These are problems that should and must be dealt with on the State and Local levels only. We the people who live and work in the areas in question are the only ones who know the problems we deal with everyday. And we alone are the ones who should and must find the best answers and directions for dealing with our specific problems. Stimulus be damned! This is nothing more than Big Brother Pocket Picking! And I for one can't wait to let all of Washington know just how I feel come next November at the ballot box.

Say It Ain't So
To paraphrase: "Houses, houses everywhere but none in which to live." And they are for sale everywhere. Big ones, small ones, ones that are brand new, and ones that need some work. But who will lend the money to buy? Where is it? Who has it? What happened to saving and building a nest egg, then plopping it down on the home of your dreams? Where have all our values gone? What happened to proving that you could afford to pay back a home loan using the income that qualified you to receive the loan in the first place? There was a time when even poor people were able to buy houses and enjoy the privileges of home ownership. I grew up in such a neighborhood. Real hard working people who saved their pennies to purchase the finer things in life. What happened? America where have you gone? What has happened to the American Dream?

I'm Living on a Real Tight Budget

Sung to the tune of I’ve Been Working on the Railroad

Please press play                                                   June 28, 2009

I’m living on a  real tight budget
because I have no cash.
Ever since the home fiasco
and the market crash
My IRA has dropped to zero
and my savings are all gone
I worked and saved
 it seems for nothing
Should have spent it all along

Cause retired I can’t stay
There seems to be no way
Because I can’t get along
I need a job today
So I can pay my way
To keep my house where I belong

Someone hire me real quickly
I’ll do anything you ask
Bag up groceries or meet and greet
Just as long as I can eat.

No Foil The US Be
Sung to the tune of Farmer in the Dell

Please press play                                June 24, 2009

The Country of Iran,
a mock election ran.
The world stood by as they denied
the preference of their land.

So folks took to the street
to turn about defeat
to break the band of mullah’s man
And take their rightful seat.

Mah moud Ah ma din e jad
must think it’s rather odd
no US voice heard on this choice
and what’s happened on his sod.

While the Champs of Liberty
 sidelined just wait to see.
Our Pres intends to play both ends.
No foil the US be.

Gitmo

Sung to the tune of B-I-N-G-O

Please press play                                June 21, 2009

There's a place in Cuba's bay
and Gitmo is its name - O
Pres says, "Close it down.
Prisoners on the ground
must get out of town
with legal rights today-O."

There's no plan on where they'll go
for an extended stay - O
EU has taken some
New York  is home to one
Uighurs  enjoy the sun
In Bermuda by the bay-O

Saudi, Palau, Iraq and Chad
Are doing their share too-o
Don’t care where they go
As long as I know
That the Yankee foe
Won’t come to the USA-O

Not In Your Policy
Sung to the tune of My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean

Please press play                                June 14, 2009

I went to my Doctor and he said,
“It’s no longer just wait and see.
Must schedule you into the OR
before it is done urgently.”

And so I filled out all of the forms
as neat as I thought they could be
And then at last I received their note
Denying to pay this for me.

Oh why won’t Oh why won’t
You pay for this surgery
 for me, for me
You say there’s no way
It’s just not in your policy.

Nancy, Nancy
Sung to the tune of Bicycle Built For Two

Please press play                                  June 7, 2009

Nancy, Nancy
tell us your side today.
We can fancy
just what you’re gonna say.
“I never heard the reporting
about this water-boarding.
Though I declare
that they did share
just what they were purporting.”

Stimulus
Sung to the tune of Alouette

Please press play                                 May 31, 2009

Soon I’ll get it.
Can’t wait ‘til I get it.
When I get it
 I’ll spend it right away.

Have you got it?
Said that they would send it.
Hasn’t come yet;
 what is the delay?

Stimulus they’re calling it.
I think our government’s unfit.
Bailed-out Banks; without thanks
AIG’s; was a squeeze
Autos too; how ‘bout you.

OHO  OHo Oho oho ooooo

Trillion smackers.
 Have we all gone crackers.
What has happened in the USA.

Say It Ain't So
Sung to the tune of Home On The Range

Please press play                                 May 24, 2009

Oh sell me a home
with an  FHA loan
so that I’ll never have to pay rent.
But all that I hear
 is there’s no money dear
and no bank has a penny to let.

Oh, say it ain’t so.
The President won’t free up the dough.
In the Fed it will stay
until some future day
when he finally will let it all flow.

Oh Fanny and Fred,
why did you go into the red?
You got into the tank
with that old Barney Frank
and now we all wish we were dead.
